About Tom:

Tom Dec is currently studying at the University of Connecticut-Stamford while interning with Congressman Jim Himes (D-CT). He will be transferring to Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations for his sophomore year. Most recently, he was on staff with David Martin, the Democratic Candidate for Mayor of Stamford, CT.

In January 2008 Tom co-founded an online radio show and podcast, The Weekly Filibuster, along with Ben Goodman whom he met through his work as the Connecticut High School Director for the Obama Campaign. Broadcast live each Sunday night, The Weekly Filibuster has been featured on MSNBC-TV, Politico.com, and in numerous newspapers around the country - and is a frequent destination for Governors, Senators, journalists, and the newsmakers of the week.

In addition, Tom blogs at The Pragmatic Progressive, a site he founded in November 2009 to present alternative commentary about U.S. politics. 

Apart from his political work Tom also serves as an advisor for the Wilton High School Debate Team, currently the top high school debate team in Connecticut, and assists in facilitating monthly statewide debate tournaments sponsored by the Connecticut Debate Association.
